By default, Darktremor Apps2SD will not move the dalvik-cache on boot.

Reworked the EXT mounting code to search for SD cards on all block devices from mmcblk0 to mmcblk9. This should make Darktremor Apps2SD more compatible with other roms. Added in Beta 01.

Added experimental support for moving the /data/data directory to the SD card. Users can move the directory between SD and Internal Storage in Beta 01. More code for autocorrection, boot protection and allowing a2sd check to report the /data/data status was added in Beta 02.

Checks kernel support for native Linux partitions (EXT2, EXT3 or EXT4). If none are present, program will activate boot protection and end program. This prevents time being wasted searching for a partition to mount when kernel support is not available. Added in Beta 02.

Does more checks for commands in the native rom version of Busybox. Now will check all Busybox commands used in Darktremor Apps2SD and will revert to using the Busybox packaged in Darktremor when a command is missing in the native Busybox. This will prevent any issues that occur when a Busybox command is not present. Added in Beta 02.

Beta 02 fixes code that was accidentally broken in Beta 01. Most of this is related in using the incorrect variable to reference Busybox.

Added new commands:

a2sd datasd and a2sd nodata: These commands move the /data/data directory between the SD card and Internal Storage [Beta 01].

a2sd forcecheck: This command instructs Darktremor Apps2SD to perform a detailed filesystem check upon next reboot. This will add time to the reboot process for one single reboot [Beta 03].

a2sd convert-ext3: This command converts an EXT2 partition to an EXT3 partition. EXT3 partitions have better unmount protection because of journaling [Beta 03].

a2sd convert-ext4: This commands converts an EXT3 partition to an EXT4 partition. Use this command as your own risk as many roms do not have EXT4 support and will not mount the partition. (Beta 04)

Rebuilt the entire dalvik-cache move routines. New code is simpler. [Beta 03]

Rebuilt the entire repair routines. New code is much simpler. (Beta 04)

Created simpler Boot Protection code. (Beta 04)

Reworked a2sd program file itself to fix the boot loop issues. (Beta 04)

Change the PS functions from using Busybox to using Toolbox. (Beta 04)

Added check code for Busybox commands. If native Busybox doesn't have a command needed for Darktremor, the Busybox packaged with Darktremor will be used for that command. (Beta 04)

SD Card goes through individual mount commands now. This may fix the EXT4 partition mounted as EXT2 issue. (Beta 04)

Added new program: fix_permissions. This is ran after any move relating to Programs or Program Data. (Beta 04)

Phone will reboot if Programs, Dalvik-Cache or Program Data is moved. This maintain integrity in the system. (Beta 04)

Added new commands: usedtbusybox and usedefaultbusybox. The first command forces the program to use the Busybox supplied by Darktremor package. The second command returns all Busybox functions to normal (Beta04).

Convert-ext3 and convert-ext4 now does the conversion during boot before the SD card is mounted. (Beta 04)

Updated included Busybox from 1.15 to 1.17-3 (Beta 04)

Fixed bugs in all the programs and the updater-script.

Added support for Oxygen 2.0 (they have a different way of signaling the init.rc that they are finished) (Beta 03).

Filesystem check code makes its triumphant return (Beta 03).

These are stock, rooted, busybox, busybox run parts, and zip aligned. Odexed, Deodex'ed, and NON ROOT versions will be available. I hope these roms can be a base for all devs to use. Thanks!

these roms will not wipe your data. this rom is purely stock, after going through the thread here, i decided to leave it stock, as this is a base, there are plenty sense 1.0 roms (including mine ) that have mods baked into them.

Odexed

My first time messing with kernels, I have also been an AOSP fanboy, until the latest HTC Sense OTA. For some reason I get awesome battery with the stock kernel. So knowing that, I thought it would be nice to add some tweaks to a sense kernel and see how good the battery can really get. I don't have a website to promote, so I use mediafire for downloads, if you have a mirror please let me know.

CHANGELOG

v0.9

Added HDMwIn port

Added TUN to kernel

Removed call recording

Tweaked the voltages for OC frequencies

Compass updates (barnacles10)

You can find all the changes I make in the changelog above. Please let me know if there are any issues. You can follow me on twitter which is in my sig or on google+ in my sig as well.

Thank you everyone! I have no idea who "created" smartass, so I have no idea who to thank. Please help me with that..

If you are seeing battery drain with the latest release its because the voltages for anything over .998 Ghz is now at its stock voltage, which was causing issues being under volted. So if you are overclocked your battery will die faster. If you want speed you will have to pay the piper. This won't change. That's just how it is. Its unstable to under volt the OC frequencies.

Freedom 0.9

SD card speed fix (4096kb)

i use this on my htc evo 4g running CM7 nightly 220 with savagedzen kernel and these scripts make a HUGE improvement.

i didnot write these scripts, i just put them all togather. thanks to juwe and smokin1337 and whoever wrote sd card speed fix (couldnt remember the authors name)

this will work with any gingerbread based roms.

the sd card speed booster increases the read/write speed of the sd card to 4096kbps.

juwes ram script increases your ram by killing unused background processes and such.

sick tweeks just increases general speed of general android processes.

most of these scripts do ALOT of basic system performance improvements, put them all togather and they make a HUGE differance.

it also works on ice cream sandwich. thanks to bitterman for pointing that out. as with everything else on this forum.. use at your own risk blah blah blah

I will check this for returning to stock if your Evo device is S-ON, BootLoader 6.17 with O/S 4.54 already and cannot return to stock bootloader 2.15 or 2.16.

*How to Unroot your Evo 4G*[/SIZE][/U]

1. Renamed the “HEX” file to “PC36IMG” and placed inside the ROOT of the SD Card, disable FastBoot my case newer rom’s are located inside settings>power>fastboot and stock would be in settings>application>fastboot and uncheck it to disable. Complete Shutdown.
2. Boot to HBoot Screen by Holding “Volume down & Power Button” same time until you get to the white screen with your device info and “Revolutionary” ontop.

3. After system scanning, It will ask “Parsing?” select “Yes” by using volume up key.
4. Done!

What just happened? “Unrevoked & AlphaRev” root is now removed, Boot Loader remains the same with your Security now enabled “S-ON.”

Now there are a lot of way’s to proceed in loading the most updated version of the Stock Rom or RUU from “S”, but for now I will use what was documented(Documentation Beats Conversation). From removing the Root and putting Security On(S-ON).

Boot Loader Flashed and Return to Stock!

1. Reboot system and not forgetting that I am still on a Custom Rom, renamed PC36IMG back to Hex this would allow system not to keep reading it over and over.

2. With the number 2 file PC36IMG.4.53.651.1 file I renamed PC36IMG.zip now, if your inside “Es explorer”(FileExploreApp) you do not need to add .zip to the end of the file since it’s already read as a zip file, simple “PC36IMG.” MAKE sure of it or you will come back and say “It says no image?” or looking like this inside recovery menu pc36img.zip.zip.

Now upon updating the system partitions, PC36IMG zipped with the latest “S” stock ROM or RUU is going to flash the Boot Loader as you will see in the video guides below, that would be the first step it’s going to take as you will see your device screen turn’s off for like a millisecond and comes back on(Flicker), when it returns as you will look to the top information your Boot Loader is now removed from 6.17.1002(mod) to stock 2.16.0001.
Only takes not even a 1 1/2mins and it will return to all the partitions and starts to update them one by one splash, boot, wimax etc; ScreenShot From Guide Part 3 of 3 **12:46 to 14:02**

How can I confirm that this is the correct information? Well for one fact, it is the STOCK RUU from the Carrier themselves leaked onto the community, and how can we forget Teams “Unrevoke and AlphaRev” released Root method for Android Version 2.3.3.
I created a Tutorial on it and simply read through the process as I was recording, my device info before rooting is recorded and visiualy documented on video, just looked back at it and it read the same thing on this thread.

I even created 3 part Video GUIDE through this whole process, and show exactly what the step's above talks about.

Steps to prepare device for the following installation below, enable usb debugging goto Settings>applications>development>debugging and select.

usb chord must be able to transfer data, it some cases you will loose this but still be able to charge. check connections usb>device and usb>computer.

Disable HTC Sync or exit out of it but make sure it's not showing on the task bar bottom right corner, and temporarily disable your virus software you may have. For at least 10mins, this method will only take like 5mins.

"PERFER" to use a notepad to COPY N PASTE your Beta key, to paste inside Command prompt(CMD or DOS), copy from notepad and on the black cmd/dos screen click on the "icon" top left corner, menu drops down, scroll down to edit and select paste!

Now let's ROOT your Evo!

Video GUIDE using this method!

1. Download ziphttp://revolutionary.io/ "
Donate to these guys who released it today"

3. Installing "Super user" Flash from recovery, BOTH LINKS ARE FOR THE SAME FILE.http://www.multiupload.com/V5EM1CYW47 ORhttp://www.multiupload.com/Y5D3I2QVZQ

How to ROOT you Evo 4G

On to rooting your EVO!!!!!

1.ok so download the revoltionary file and extract it somewhere on your desktop.
2.run the executable revolutionary file.
3.it will detect your phone's specific serial number. use that to generate the beta key on the revolutionary website.
4.enter the beta key in the revolutionary dos window on your computer. people have been reporting that the key is invalid. so just copy and paste the key from the revolutionary website to the dos window.
5.it should then run and do its thing.
6.next we need to go and verify that s-off and if you have recovery
7.select bootloader then recovery
8.on the hboot screen at the top it should say s-off, if it does then congrats!

next we need to flash the superuser so
9.select recovery in bootloader
10.select install .zip from sdcard
11.find the superuser file and flash it

time to make a nandroid backup
11in recovery select backup and restore
12.select backup
13.after it is done you can reboot

CONGRATS YOU ARE NOW ROOTED!

We must first gather the tools needed for the process, written and visual step by step below, I am simply not saying “This works better than other methods” but am saying it worked for me and able to replace my usb port on my device at the “S” store. Make sure the sd card is not inside when you take it in?

Now assuming that your rooted with the latest from “UnRevoked & AlphaRev” with a custom ROM installed on your device, in this case I was currently on “NewToRoot” 2.3.5/3.5 with a custom Kernel. The two zip files below Download and place them on the Root of the SD card, steps below is simply renaming the first one that will be used for removing the “Root.” You can rename them on the computer and place it on the SD or on the device itself, which ever you prefer but cannot have the same file name. Since I am removing UnRevoke & AlphaRev Root, I used the Number one first..

Files and there functions.
I would like to turn this into an app! If someone would like to help out that has Java knowledge, please contact me!

What does this do?
Kernel developers make their kernels to be "universal". By universal, they want the kernel to work on as many phones as possible so they may only mildly undervolt. However, some phones can handle a more aggressive undervolt. Some can't. viperMOD allows you to undervolt to your choosing for better battery life or allow you to overvolt to make your phone more stable.

How do I run this?
Once you flash the .zip go into your Terminal app (I use Android Terminal Emulator set to 10pt font) and type:

su
vipermod

I really only use Terminal for my mod and there is something really cool you can do with Android Terminal Emulator (and maybe others). Menu > Preferences > Initial Command > Press Enter and type su > Press Enter again and type vipermod

Every time you start Terminal now, it will open right into viperMOD. You can quickly exit by pressing Enter if you need to use Terminal for something else

The recovery binary and several binaries have been compiled for armv7-neon so it should be faster. Also many new features have been added/updated. Capactive keys also work.

To also make it clear this recovery will restore both existing clockwork mod backups and Amon Ra backups.

Recovery Features:

Install su & superuser: Installs or fixes su & superuser install (removes old if exists)
Install eng (unguarded) su: Installs engineering su that doesn't use superuser (removes old su & superuser if exists)
Reboot to bootloader: reboots to bootloader/hboot
Reboot recovery : reboots phone back into recovery

I have included flash_eraseall binary to recovery which can be used to fix/erase corrupted partitions that will not mount correctly to nandroid restore to.
Useage from adb shell is : flash_eraseall /dev/mtd/mtd4 (where mtd4 is the number of the partition from "adb shell cat /proc/mtd" you want to erase)

Trouble Shooting:
Use option under Other menu to move recovery log to sd. Mount your sdcard to pc and read that file called recovery.log. It should have detailed cause of error.

Tommy here. This time I have a nifty little trick for you guys.

This took a little creative thinking but I think I got it pretty good. I was chatting with some Team Ramen Noodles guys and someone asked how an AOSP botanimaiton zip can be flashed on a Sense ROM. This was the lightbulb moment :-)

Instructions for dev:

Download from link below.

Place the file "bootanimation.zip" inside the update.zip. I put a placeholder so you would know where to replace it.

Optionally, you can put a sound "android_audio.mp3". If you don't want it, then just leave it out. Not necessary.

When you open it up, you will see two place holder files, "bootanimaion.zip__HERE" and "android_audo.mp3__HERE". You can delete them if you want, but they don't do anything. Just for reference.

Files must be named "bootanimation.zip" and "android_audio.zip", otherwise won't work.

The script "tt_uni_boot" looks for the animation and sound in the rom, and replaces it depending on what it finds.

This works on AOSP, Sense, Sprint, HTC, and Verizion :-)

The update.zip below is what you should use as your base if you want to make your bootanimation universal for all roms.

Also, if anyone wants to flash it as is, it contains this lovely animation:
We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
v2.3.3 has some screen tearing/color weirdness going on. This is just a graphical bug in the recovery kernel, nothing to worry about. I'll try to fix it in a next version.
Install Instructions:

Place PC36IMG.zip on the root of your sd card.

Boot the phone into the bootloader by powering the phone down, then press the power and the volume down buttons at the same time.

Once the phone boots into the bootloader the phone will automatically recognize the zip file. It will ask if you would like to update, select yes and let it do it's thing and you will be good to go

1. Download a script
2. Install BusyBox
3. Install Script Manager (Browse as Root in Config)
4. Load script into Script Manager (Run As Root)
5. Follow instructions/user prompts & select what you want

That's about it. EASY!

It works on ALL Android devices - Custom Roms or Stock Roms, Phones or Tablets, it doesn't matter!

Also Note: Nothing else does what The V6 SuperCharger does!
................Not AutoKiller Memory Optimizer, Not Auto Memory Manager, Not Minfree Manager...
................And NOTHING BEATS IT. PERIOD.

Memorable User Comments: "Feels like I have a new phone!", "Supercharger rocks bro, I'm actually mad I waited so long to do it...","I wish I hadn't upgraded yet", "Now I can wait to upgrade", "I was about to throw this phone through the wall", "I was about to return it but now I don't have to", "This cured my phone of cancer!", "Oh man... just applied the V6 Supercharger Script by ZeppelinRox on my Android.. I think it fixed everything..", "I can't live without this!", "My phone is better than new!", "my phones has turned god mode on or somthing"

================================================== ================================

99SuperCharger Tweaking: Of course, I don't own any rights in regards to the actual tweaks applied to system settings.
This means anybody is free to mess with OOM groupings, OOM prioriteis and minfrees.
So it's fine to modify and share your tweaked 99SuperCharger file as long as you leave the credits intact

Developers may include the attached V6 SuperCharger Installation Script in their roms. (This installs 99SuperCharger)
The attached V6 SuperCharger installation script may NOT be disassembled in any way, or be used as a part of any memory management app or package.
This is because it is no different than an app/apk found in the market. It's an installation program.
I don't own any right to tweak OOM Groupings, OOM Priorities, or minfree values. But I do own this program.

ATTN DEVS: If you want to use the V6 SuperCharger memory system in your ROM, give proper credit and a HTML link to this thread.
..................Of course, baking it into the rom is 100% fine.
..................You can include a copy of the attached installation script in the system/xbin folder so users can use it with terminal emulator
.................. - giving it a short name is fine as it's a pain to type long file names in terminal.
..................Do not modify it, do not rebrand it (ie. It's not called "V6script"). Thank you.

This is the only permissible distribution of the attached installation script - unmodified, in a custom rom and in the system/xbin folder.

Modification and redistribution of the attached installation script is not permitted at all.
This means that you cannot feel free to zip up the attached installation script with other tweaks and this means that it is not be edited and shared.

ATTN USERS: If you use or encounter a ROM with the V6 SuperCharger memory system, without proper credit given and no SuperCharger source links, please make the Developer aware of it, and if necessary, please let me know about it. Thank you.

Personal Use: You may tweak the V6 installation script (leaving credits intact) to your own personal liking as long as it is NOT redistributed in any way.

If you want to share this, just link to this thread.
If you want to make a thread in other forums telling people about it, that's great.
But I would prefer that you do not post a copy of the V6 SuperCharger installation script in those forums.
If you already have a thread with a copy attached, I won't bother you about it. But please don't attach further updates.

Your co-operation is very much appreciated.

I don't want diluted/broken V6 SuperCharger installations floating around and then have people say it doesn't work.

================================================== ================================

What's it do?

It makes your phone FAST... super snappy with better multitasking!
It rearranges and fixes the OOM Groupings and Priorites and lowmemorykiller values.

So basically, it's a COMPLETE MEMORY MANAGEMENT FIX!

It's the ONLY one of it's kind

NO LAUNCHER REDRAWS, faster than ever, multitasking is better... why?
Because it works with the lowmemorykiller and letting it work the way it's meant to work.

Also, because of the rearrangement, it works the same on all roms!
The problem with using minfree tweakers like AMM or AKMO is that it doesn't work the same on all roms.
Secondary apps may be in slot 3 on some roms but in slot 5 in others!
That's why you hear people comment "I tried AKMO but it didn't do anything..."
Most likely it didn't do anything because the apps weren't sitting where they were expected to be.

So fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride!

================================================== ================================

Important Note: FREE RAM IS NOT WASTED! - Read Linux Memory Consumption
...................... That article TOTALLY confirms what I've been saying!

To Summarize: Article: "Performance degradation occurs when "Absolute Free Memory" (includes Cached RAM) decreases."
...................... Me: "Lag happens when free ram goes below the 'lag level'"

Same thing, different language
I'm not sure why this is occurring, some people have been able to get this working right while others have had a hard time with it.

Currently, I'm rebuilding the entire program. This takes a while because I have to figure out how to pack all these options into the program but make it small enough to where it will run correctly.

I will say that some of the beta features are coming back out...one of them is the search for a partition code. I suspect that code may be leading me into issues with certain platforms, so I'm going back to the 2.7.5.2 method of mounting (mmcblk0p2 or mmcblk1p2).

Also, parts of the code will use Busybox Ash (the only code that won't will be starta2sd, which will still use Bash for the time being). The startup code will definitely use Busybox Ash.

Beta 04 took longer than I expected to release. I have done major changes to the code:

1. New commands: convert-ext4 - This will convert your EXT3 partition into EXT4. Just a friendly reminder on this command: Not every rom supports EXT4, so it is possible to go into a boot loop if you switch roms. Use with caution.

2. Reworked convert-ext3 (convert-ext4 gets similar code)...now a flag file is set before the reboot (no conversion is done before the reboot). At load time, the conversion is performed. This takes longer in the reboot process and you may think your phone has locked up...wait about five minutes before doing anything with the phone.

3. Repair is rebuilt...now it uses existing commands to repair the setup (reinstall, remove, cachesd, cachepart, nocache, datasd, nodata). Definitely shrinks the code.

4. Added fix_permissions program to the package. This may help with Superuser issues when using the datasd feature. It is used in reinstall, remove, datasd and nodata.

5. a2sd install is back!!! Both a2sd install and a2sd reinstall do the exact same thing.

6. Dalvik heap code has been shrunk and now creates a file called dalvikheap. Actually, the code has been doing this all along (since about 2.7.5.2, I think), but I never put the code in to use the file.

7. Low Memory Killer code has also been shrunk and uses a file caled dtset_lowmem to set the low memory killer parameter.

8. Replaced Busybox PS function with Toolbox PS. The issue with Busybox PS is that it gives a false reading when I look for android.process.acore (which is the main program when the GUI starts up). If that is present, the program thinks you are trying to run Darktremor without any command line parameters. This was because Busybox would report the process was there when, in reality, it wasn't (validated this when my phone was boot looping.) Toolbox's PS reports the correct setting. This should fix the bootlooping issues some people are experiencing.

9. New commands: usedtbusybox and usedefaultbusybox - these commands may help in diagnosing issues that is may be related to the native Busybox on your rom. a2sd usedtbusybox will use the Busybox that is packaged with Darktremor. a2sd usedefaultbusybox will turn back on the scan behavior of the program introduced in Beta 03.

10. Support for Darktremor Apps2SD version 2.7 and earlier has been discontinued. To upgrade correctly from one of those versions, use version 2.7.5.3 Beta 03b or earlier.

11. Finally fixed stalled boot issues (or at least my tests with several roms says so.)

See the change log for additional details.

You will notice that if the program runs repair and finds a problem, it will correct the issue and reboot. You will see a second reboot when the dalvik-cache clears (this is to fix timing issues with CyanogenMod...I can't control that startup as well as I can other roms). This only happens if repair is ran or you flash a new rom (as repair will realign all data). If you are upgrading from a previous version of Darktremor, you should not see the reboots.

This is Darktremor Apps2SD, a multipurpose program that primarily allows a user to execute applications created for the Android OS on their Secure Digital card (with the proper setup...more on that later). But, Darktremor Apps2SD is all about stability. The goal is to be able for all users of the Android OS to be able to take advantage of a method to run their applications from a secure digital card.

But just because the Darktremor Apps2SD is all about stability, doesn't mean it isn't packed with features:

- Move applications (both free and paid) to the Secure Digital card.
- Move Dalvik Cache to run either from your Secure Digital card or from your cache partition and clears the cache on demand.
- Boot Loop Protection: prevents the phone from boot looping in the event the SD card could not be mounted.
- Dalvik JIT for faster performance on Roms which support it.
- User selectable sizes for the Dalvik heap sizes, allowing a user to freely optimize their system.
- Activate a swap partition on your SD card and sets how often the swap partition is utilized.
- Automatically fixes configuration issues.
- Users can check the free space on their SD card and check the installation to make sure all is setup correctly.
- Runs ZipAlign on demand...this makes your programs load faster.
- Built in help system for easy reference of commands.
- All features can also be reversed without repartitioning your Secure Digital card.
- New logging features assists in troubleshooting issues.
- Commands to set the Low Memory Killer feature at boot time. Great for those people who are the "set it and forget it" type.
- And more...

Darktremor Apps2SD is not the same as Froyo Apps2SD. Froyo Apps2SD creates a secure folder on the FAT32 section of your SD card (this is the section that you see when you mount your phone to your computer) and stores the programs there. This is nice as you don't have to do anything special with the phone, but it isn't backwards compatible with older versions of Android (Cupcake, Donut, Eclair) and, because of the way Froyo works, older programs not designed for Froyo will automatically stay on your internal storage (unless you install a program that forces the move to your SD card).

Darktremor Apps2SD takes a different approach. Based on the original CyanogenMod works, Darktremor Apps2SD uses symbolic linking to force Android into moving your applications to the SD card. Because Android will not allow anything to be ran from the FAT32 partition on your SD card (and, in Froyo, it will only allow you to run programs from a special folder), Darktremor utilizes filesystems called EXT2, EXT3 and EXT4. Each one of these filesystems is native to Linux (the operating system running Android), which allows you to run programs from them (same as, say, a computer running Ubuntu). This method is completely compatible with all versions of Android, including Froyo. In fact, you can run both the Darktremor Apps2SD and Froyo Apps2SD at the same time.
